About Lailo Lema, Author
An author of dark fiction, writing genre blends of anything dark, sexy, fantastical, or weird.
Her work blurs the line between desire and dread. She is a pioneer of mixed genre, her favorite being, erotic horror and gothic fairytales. Her work masterfully uses synesthesia and artistic design. She believes the right words can do more than entice but wreck someone as well.

How it all began
Lailo began making spicy audio roleplays under the alias, ‘coquettedoll’ which ultimately led her down a path of taking interest in putting her ideas on paper so that they could be refined. Yet, it was long before this that she created little poems and nonfiction stories for her peers in grade school.
Like most, Lailo got her start on wattpad with short and unfinished works. Her first attempt at a full length novel was ‘I’d Keep Her Bound’ a taboo age gap story about Safana and her step father Rig. This story gained traction and ranked #1 for graphic content on wattpad.
Lailo went on to continue writing short stories to perfect her craft. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in english with a focus on literature, linguistics, art, and film studies.

Lailo Lema authors stories that break boundaries set by genre. She draws inspiration from a range of dark fiction including erotic horror and dark romance. Also, she takes inspiration from gothic fairytales she indulged in growing up, as well as adventure. No matter where she pulls from, the common theme running through her stories is an exploration of desire and dread. The playful anticipation and andrenaline between them and the cost of grief we pay when we indulge.
Creating space for authors
Lailo Lema is the founder of Ebon & Onyx Press an independent literary press that is dedicated to helping dark fiction authors bring their stories to the forefront. The press also runs a writing contests and literary awards for writers. The Ebon & Onyx Quill Prize seeks to find unique stories that reach the darkest parts of ourselves.
